All about numbers

Today we are going to represent number in a different way, we are going to do draw some elephants.

You will need:
– Number cards
– Pieces of paper
– Some pencil crayons


Next can you draw a river and then choose a number card?

Can you now draw that many elephants in the river?

Can you have a go at writing the number you have chosen?

Choose one more number and draw that many elephants.

Can you have a go at writing that number you have chosen?

Choose another number and draw that many elephants.

Now can you write that number you have chosen?

Let’s Talk

For our talking activity we are going to look at some minibeasts and play a game called odd one out.

When watching the video can you focus on these questions and see if you can spot the odd one out.

  • How many legs does the minibeast have?
  • Does the minibeast have a shell?
  • Can the minibeast fly, does it have wings?

Today the children enjoyed RWI as they focused on the picture cards.

Funky Fingers Fun

For funky fingers the children have been busy practising their pinchy pinchy fingers as they picked up the different objects around their house to decorate the butterflies wings. They have also enjoyed joining in with funky monkey.

Making Buzzing Bees

The children have been creative today as they have been making bumble bees out of toilet roll tubes or paper or anything they have in their household that can make a good bumble bee. They look fantastic children well done! Also great talking about them too.

Counting caterpillars in different places

The children have been focusing on counting objects in different arrangements in different ways using the caterpillars. The children have really thought about this in regards to counting the caterpillars in an irregular arrangement.

All About Numbers

Today we are going to count the caterpillars, adding one more each time. Here is a lovely number song to listen to.

Now find five caterpillars of your own. You could use pasta twirls like we did for counting yesterday. Put the caterpillars one at a time in different places around you, just like in the song. Add one more each time and count them. Can you count five caterpillars like in the song too?

Let’s Talk

Today we are going to be making a bumble bee.

You can make a bumble bee different types of ways, you can use an empty toilet roll tube.

– Empty toilet tube
– Yellow and black paint
– Or yellow and black paper strips
– 2 black pipe cleaners for the antennas
– A cut out circle shape for the face

– 2 cut out shaped wings
– A glue stick
– A black pen

There is your bumble bee!

If you wanted to make your bumble bee out of paper then you can.

2 pieces of yellow paper or white paper
– Some scissors
– A glue stick
-A black felt tip pen

Now you have made your bumble bee, can you talk about it?

  • Does you bumble bee have wings?
  • Does your bumble bee fly or crawl?
  • Where do bumble bees live?
  • How did you make your bumble bee?

Funky Fingers Fun

Let’s warm ourselves up today with Funky Monkey for our funky fingers.

Now we are all warmed up we are going to practise our pinchy, pinchy fingers with some objects.

First can you draw a big butterfly on a piece of paper.

Now can you collect some objects around your home that can be picked up with using your pinchy, pinchy pencil grip.

We would now like you to put the objects onto your butterflies wings using your pinchy pinchy pencil grip.
