Today children we would like you to count as high as you can using this song to help you. Can you count all the way to 20?
Join in with the words and actions to keep active.
Once you know the song, sing it again and try your own actions, for example, hop instead of jump, clap instead of stop and stretch instead of spin.
After singing the song ask your child some number questions such as, what is one more than two? or which number comes after four? Play the song again and pause it to check the answers.
Please email us or blog the ideas of the actions you tried when counting.
Today have fun finding out about fire fighters. Enjoy watching Woolly and Tig to find out more then talk about the questions below.
What do you do when you see a fire? Tell an adult, get to a safe place and phone 999
Have you got a smoke detector in you house? Can you find it? What makes it go off?
How do fire fighters get to a fire?
What special clothes do the fire fighters have? Boots, helmet, mask, coats and trousers
What special equipment do the fire fighters have? Ladder, hose
Have you ever seen a fire engine or fire fighter?

Within our P.E lessons the children have been working on their partnership skills, this involves working together in different ways. In relation to P.E the children can use a football to improve their catching and kicking skills.
Why not get yourselves in your garden and enjoy the fresh air and have some fun family time!
For 5 minutes as a warm up game you as a parent or even an older sibling can encourage the children to throw the ball to you. You could include some counting into this activity and see what number you get to without missing the ball. CAN YOU GET TO 10!
Once you are feeling warmed up, the children may be familiar with this as we have took part in this activity before. This requires using the ball again but encouraging their coordination skills.
Stand with your feet apart as the child will roll the ball in between your legs and you will run after the ball and using the skill from yesterday (balancing on one leg!) you can stop the ball with one foot. It is best that the older individual goes first to demonstrate, have 5 turns and swap over.
To finish off this activity in the garden you could sit with your legs apart and roll the ball to one another and sing the child’s favourite nursery rhyme.
Let’s stay active and healthy!
Today we thought it might be a good idea to talk about the corona virus. The children will be nearing things so we don’t want them to worry. Dr rang explains about ‘What is a virus’ on this link.
Talk about The signs of the Corona virus may give you a fever and a chesty cough. You will feel tired and need to rest to let your body fight it off and get better.
Ask are you worried about anything?
Talk about keeping safe– washing you hands, staying at home, keeping two meters away from other people Remember Do Not play in the park
Enjoy singing this song together to help you remember

I hope everyone has found something to make counting frames with as you will need them again today and later on this week.
Find some objects to use in your frame, I used cotton reels today. Count the objects like you did yesterday. The task is to then add one more and count the new total.

Ask questions as your child counts.
How many cotton reels are there? How many are there if you add one more? Repeat the activity with different numbers of objects.
Remember you can add another five frame if your child is confidently working with numbers past five.

Recap at the end to check your child understands one more.
Keep counting and let us know how you are getting on. We look forward to hearing from you all.
Early readers need the skills to break down words into smaller chunks, clapping the rhythm is a fun way to do this. This week we are learning about fire fighters.
Can you learn these new words and clap out the rhythms.
Can you think of any more like siren?

So lovely to see the children in action at home, keep up the good work nursery!

In P.E the children have been working on their multiskills, which includes focusing on their core muscles. This involves balancing, using different positions with their body to create the perfect balancing skills.
In our sessions in P.E the children have been learning to stand on one leg and hold it for 3 seconds.
Using the link below the children can show you at home their brilliant balancing as it provides plenty of opportunities for them to join in with the action on the screen.
Once they are comfortable with the warm skills, you can make this exciting by setting up your living room as a Lava Zone and face the challenges! You could use cushions as a safety point as they jump along the obstacle.
The key safety tip is…. HOLD THAT BALANCE, THE FLOOR IS LAVA!
