Lets write

Today can you practice writing your name.

First of all let’s get our arms warmed up ready to write.

Now hold your pencil in a pinch

Copy your name cards starting at the green dots. Some children will only be copying their first letter, others may need to write over your writing. If you can write your name keep practicing your RWI letters.

Check out this video if you are unsure how to write the letters correctly.

Wonderful Work

Well done to our children who have sent in their pictures showing fantastic learning in writing and spelling. Give yourselves a huge marshmallow clap.

Great work in counting too. What a good idea to use sweets. I wonder if you got to eat any of them!

We will look forward to seeing more of your lovely work. Please send it to: ContactNursery@holbrook.coventry.sch.uk

Be creative

How about making a fire engine today?

You could use old boxes or go out in your garden, maybe in your bedroom. You will need some wheels, a ladder, flashing lights and a hose.

Here are some ideas:-

Look around the house, I’ve used food cans and milk bottle tops and old boxes. You can decorate it with paint or pens.

Dress up and act out being a fire fighter. I’m wearing Mr Simonds’ wellies, coat and a bike helmet. I’ve used a bench and plant pots and some wood for the ladder.

What can you find?

PS:- I just happen to have scaffolding up in my garden. Please don’t try going up a ladder at home.

Talk About Numbers

Here is another counting activity to try with your number frames. Find some objects to use for counting, I used lollipop sticks today. Count the objects like you did before. The task is to then find out what is one less and count the new total.

Ask questions as your child counts.

Can you count the lollipop sticks? How many lollipop sticks are there? How many are there if there is one less? Repeat the activity with different numbers of objects.

Add another five frame if your child is working with numbers up to ten.

Please send us pictures of your learning. We are really enjoying looking at your work.

Well done everyone, you are doing great!

Dance Dance Dance!

Each day we take part in funky fingers to get our body’s moving in an enjoyable and an energetic way. This is all part of helping the children to become good writers. It’s also about having good coordination and improving their rhythm skills.

As we like to move our bodies in ways to represent animals in our P.E lessons within our warm up games. Why not get your children moving to the music as they copy the moves on the screen.

Just click the link and lets dance!
