You are trying so hard with your writing children. It will help you to use your name card everyday to copy from. Remember, only use the capital letter for the first letter at the start of your name.

All About Numbers

This is a fun number and creative activity. You can get busy making and learning your numbers at the same time.

First of all you need to make a big, pink tongue. You could paint it or make a collage with bits of paper and glue, or you might have different craft materials you could use.

Next you need to make some big teeth to go around the outside of the tongue. Egg boxes which have been cut up are perfect, or little yogurt pots. If not, big pieces of paper cut into the shape of teeth will work instead.

Make enough teeth to challenge your child and number them clearly with big digits. Then place them in order around the tongue from smallest to largest.

Ask your child to count the teeth, starting at number one and touching each one as they count them.

Continue by asking your child questions such as:

Can you find number two?

Where is number seven?

Which number comes after number four?

What is one more than eight?

Which number comes before two?

What is one less than six?

Make sure your child shows you the correct tooth each time.

Repeat the activity with different questions. Add more teeth (maximum of twenty) once your child is confident with the numbers, to make it more challenging for them. Have fun!

Today we are learning about what food and drink is good and bad for our teeth.

Can you find a variety of food and drinks that are good and bad for your teeth?

Remember sugary foods and drinks are bad for our teeth. Milk will make our teeth stronger and water will keep them clean.

Sugary foods stick to our teeth and will make them unhealthy. It is nice to have a treat but best to have it after we have eaten a meal or before we brush our teeth.

Moving While Story Telling!

In nursery we have a lot of favourite stories. This P.E lesson we thought that we could bring the story to life with our bodies. One of our favourite story is we’re going on a bear hunt. We would like the children to move their bodies in different ways to create this story.

Before we start our P.E lessons we always talk about how it is important to get our muscles warmed up for our exercises. This storytelling involves lots of stretching and bending, so we need to WARM UP! We sometimes use music to get ourselves warmed up in our P.E sessions. Today we will use this song and get active!

To warm up you can:
– Hop on 1 leg and count 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
– Star jump and count 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
– Jog on the spot (get those knees up) and count 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
– Skip in a circle and count 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
Repeat all 1 more time!

Now we are all warmed up, lets tell our story. Join in with all the actions and key phrases.

Each day Mr Gould organises a daily challenge for staff and children throughout the school to take part in.

We thought it would be a nice idea for nursery to join in with this one, as we are very good at ‘being kind’ to each other.

By showing your kindness to your family you could:-
– Give a cuddle to someone in your house.
– Take turns in a game with your siblings or parents.
– Help with some of the jobs at home (tidy your toys away.)
– Share a story.

All About Numbers

Here is a song that will help you with counting backwards and with learning about one less. Listen to the song and join in with the counting.

Once you have enjoyed listening to the song a few times, find some teddies and toys to act out the song with.

Make a bed for them and roll the toys and teddies over, making one fall onto the floor each time.

When a toy or teddy falls onto the floor, count how many are left in the bed.
