Strictly come fruits!

This week we are learning about healthy eating and all the different types of fruits.

In nursery we enjoy our funky fingers dancing with the song Go Go Mango! Join in see if you can spot any of your favourite fruits.

Now let’s try another one with some more of our favourite fruits.

That was brilliant dancing, remember keep active!

Let’s talk

This week we are learning about eating healthy fruit. You should try and eat 5 portions of fruit or vegetables every day. A portion is the size of your palm. What fruit do you have in your house?

Can you name all the fruit in this video?

Look at the fruit you have at home and talk about it. Here are some questions to help:-

What fruits do you peel?

What is the biggest smallest fruit in your house?

What fruit smells the best?

What fruit do you like best?

What fruit is the heaviest?

What fruit is the lightest fruit?

Ready to read

Today we are re-telling the story of the Hungary caterpillar. Enjoy watching it first.

Now can you use the story map to retell the story to someone at home.

What do you think the butterfly will do next?

I think it will fly away to a beautiful field of flowers and lay an egg on a huge green leaf.

Zumba with Miss Woodward

It’s time to get active with Miss Woodward’s own made up Zumba dance.

Just like yesterday sit and watch the dance first and then join in once you feel confident. This is all for fun children, parents feel free to join in to.

Wow that was fantastic children!

If you would like to send your videos to us that will be amazing – Contactnursery@holbrook.coventry.sch.uk

Finish with a nice relaxing cool down

Lie down flat on your back and listen to the music.

Whilst the music is playing and you are laying flat on your back, i want you take deep breathes in and out and think about all the animals in the jungle and count to 20.

  • Firstly lift one leg and hold it for the count of 10 (keeping it nice and straight) and then swap legs and count to 10.
  • Next stretch both arms above your head nice and straight and count to 10.
  • Sit up straight, keeping legs out in front of you and touch your toes and count to 10.
  • Make a circle motion with your arm whilst still sitting up (do 3 of these)
  • Stand up and stand on your tip toes and reach up tall hold for 10 seconds
  • To finish off sit and relax whilst listening to Miss Woodward’s favourite Disney song!

Happy Friday Boys and Girls!

More About Height

Today’s activity is once again, ordering objects by height, building upon yesterday’s learning. The idea is to use pictures of bottles of toiletries, linking to our theme of Keeping Clean. Draw two or three bottles of different heights and ask your child to cut them out and arrange them in order of height, from shortest to tallest and then afterwards from tallest to shortest, like this:

Then ask your child to think of ways to decorate each bottle differently. Talk about the toiletries they use in the bathroom to help keep themselves clean. Once they are decorated, encourage your child to arrange the bottles in height order again, shortest to tallest first and tallest to shortest after, like this:

You can then ask questions about the bottles, such as:

Which bottle is the tallest bottle?

What height is the bottle of soap?

What size is the tube of toothpaste?

What is inside the medium sized bottle?

Then set your child challenges such as:

Put your finger on the tallest bottle.

Put a penny on the one which is the shortest .

Put a Lego block on the medium height bottle.

Have fun with the challenges and send us photos of your ideas to:

Let’s talk

Today we are going to play with our toys in the bath. What toys are the children playing with in this video.

Make sure you clean you’re toys carefully and make lots of bubbles.

Can you make up stories with your toys?

One day two ducks decided to have a race with the boat. Off they started with a ready steady go. They swam as fast as they could but couldn’t get past it so they flew into the top of the boat and enjoyed the ride. As they got near to the land they flapped their wings and flew off the boat and landed with a thump. “Hooray” they shouted “We won.”

Let’s write

Lets warm our arms up before we start writing with touch the stars.

It’s great fun playing in the bath and getting clean at the same time.

What is your favourte bath toy?

Can you draw a picture of it?

What sound does your bath toy begin with? Tell someone in your house who can write it down for you?

Send your pictures to ContactNursery@holbrook.coventry.sch.uk
