All About Numbers

This is a farm themed number activity, where the learning is all about counting out the correct number of animals from a larger group, onto an object.

You will need:

Number cards to 10, two cowsheds, some cows to count with, some scissors to cut them out and a tray to put them on. If you have plastic farm animals you could use those, or you could even make playdough farm animals.

This is what I used:

Place a number card at the side of each cowshed. Cut out the cows and place them on a tray in the centre. Then count the correct amount of cows onto the cowsheds. Remember the number of cows must be the same as the number on the card at the side of the cowshed.

Take the cows off the cowshed. Swap the number cards over with different ones and repeat the activity.

Count carefully, one cow at a time, onto the cowshed. Check that the total number of cows on each cowshed matches the number on the card at the side. Repeat with all of the number cards to 10.

Which cowshed has got the most cows on it?

Which cowshed has the fewest cows on it?

Can you read the number at the side of the cowshed at the top?

Can you read the number at the side of the cowshed at the bottom?

Have fun counting the cows and send us pictures of your learning to:

Enjoying story time with Miss Woodward

Today Miss Woodward read a story to the children. We hope the children enjoyed it as much as Miss Woodward did. Good listening boys and girls.

Funky fingers time

For funky fingers today the children were using their pinchy pinchy fingers to create colanders using objects in their own homes. The children were very creative and really thought about what they could use. Well done everyone!

The Ball and Bucket Challenge

Today for number we are going to use a bucket or anything in your garden you can use to throw a ball into. Miss Woodward used a mop bucket

Using the skills from Monday and using the under arm throw we are going to have the bucket for the target and each bucket is going to get further away.

You will need 3 socks to mark out your position of throwing.

For sock number 1 you get 1 point

For sock number 2 you get 2 points.

For sock number you get 3 points.

Use a tally to mark who gets the most points , get your family in your house to join in and go out in the sunshine!
