Funky Fingers

The children have made fantastic superhero pegs and they have been practising their pinchy pinchy fingers as they peg their superhero around the house.

Sunflowers

WOW, look how tall your sunflowers have got.

Lovely Wednesday Nursery thank you.

See you tomorrow!

All About Number

Today’s activity is linked to this week’s story, ‘Marvelous Me’. It is a counting and number matching activity. How marvellous are you at holding things? How many objects can you fit onto the palm of your hand?

You will need a collection of objects of different sizes from around your home and garden such as stones, sticks, pompoms, buttons, milk carton tops, cotton wool balls, Duplo etc.

You will also need:

A tray or table to place the objects on

Number cards to 10

Choose one type of object and see how many of them you can fit into the palm of your hand.

Count the objects and then find the correct number to show how many of the objects you are holding.

I could hold four pine cones in my hand so I needed to find the number card with 4 on it.

Now repeat the activity with a different kind of object. I used the stones. How many can you fit into the palm of your hand?

Count the stones and then find the correct number to show how many of them you are holding.

I could hold two stones in my hand so I needed to find the number card with 2 on it.

Repeat the activity as above with more objects. Like this:

Remember to count the objects and read the numbers carefully.

Let’s Talk

Let’s start our talking activity with a nice Nursery Rhyme.

To link with the Nursery rhyme today we are going to focus on what your garden has grown throughout Spring and the start of Summer .

In Miss Woodward’s Nanny’s garden she has lots of flowers that have grown throughout Spring and the start of Summer.

If you don’t have any flowers in your garden use this picture to talk about what you can see.

How has your garden grown?
What plants can you find in your garden growing?
How tall is your sun flower?
How many different coloured flowers can you find?

Also Mrs Simonds has grown a sunflower. Look how tall hers is.

WOW, what a beautiful sun flower, who is taller?

Send in your pictures of your garden and the flowers you have. Also share with us your tall sunflowers- Contactnursery@holbrook.coventry.sch.uk

Funky Fingers

Lets warm our fingers up with I can move my body!

For our funky finger activity today we are going to make a superhero peg, you need to make sure you can still open it.

Once you have made your superhero peg, I wonder how many places you can find to peg it on to.

Remember use your pinchy pinchy fingers to open your superhero.

Share you pictures with us – Contactnursery@holbrook.coventry.sch.uk

Let’s Read

Today we are going to read a story all about a sunflower its called The Magnificent Sunflower.

Now you have listened to the story, can you answer these questions?

What did the sunflower grow taller then?
What words did they uses to talk about the sunflower?
Was it pretty , beautiful, gorgeous, fantastic?

Great joining in Nursery.

The children have also been designing their own superhero mask to go with their superhero capes. What brilliant superheroes you are!

Superhero P.E

What great joining in with the P.E lesson today!

Thank you for sharing your superhero work with us.
See you tomorrow.

All About Shape

For today’s shape activity you are going to make a superhero cape like the character has in our story for this week, ‘Marvelous Me’.

You will need the shapes from yesterday’s activity to stick onto the cape that you draw, or you can make your own. Like this:

Enjoy decorating your superhero cape and remember to talk about the names of the shapes as you make it.

Which shape is the square?

Which shape is the triangle?

Which shape is the circle?

Which shape is the rectangle?

Can you name each of the shapes?

Please send in pictures of your work to:

Let’s Talk

Today let’s turn into your favourite superhero and make a face mask.

When you have made your masks talk about:
– What type of super powers do you have?
– What are you good at?
– How are you going to help people?

Share with us your masks you have made, we would love to see them – Contactnursery@holbrook.coventry.sch.uk
