Today we have a number matching game for you to play with your family, it is called ‘The Sweetcorn Game’. Each player will need a sweetcorn playing sheet and you will need some counters, enough for twelve each and two dice, numbered 1 to 6. I used sequins for counters, but you could use pompoms, or coins. I did not have any dice so I used an app on my iPad, but you could make some dice with blocks and stick numbers on.
Take it in turns to roll the two dice and count the total number of spots. If you use a dice app (I used rolladie.net) it will show you the total number and then you just need to match it correctly to the same number on the sweetcorn and cover it with a counter. Like this:
Continue to take turns, each time rolling the dice once and covering the number on your sweetcorn.
If you roll a number which you already have then you must miss a turn and pass the dice to the next player. The winner is the person who covers all of the numbers on their sweetcorn first. Good luck!
How many dots are on both of the dice?
Can you count all of the dots on the dice?
Which number do you need to find on the sweetcorn?
Where is number eight on the sweetcorn?
Enjoy the game with your family and please send us photos of you playing it to:
