Marvellous Monday

What a great day to start of the week with , Nursery have been very busy with all the activities on the blog. Well Done Boys And Girls!

Bike and Scooter Pictures

The children have all enjoyed sharing their bike and scooters with us today, they have all done some brilliant talking about their bike and scooters and how they keep safe. Well done boys and girls.

TARGET GAME

The children have taken part in the maths activity today, which involved throwing the balls at the targets. They have learnt a new skill which was to throw the ball under arm! Well done boys and girls this can be tricky tricky.

Funky Fingers and Writing

The children are joining in with the ribbon activity for funky fingers as they practise their letter formation, Mrs Simonds chose S for slither down the snake. Also some of the children are starting their daily exercise dairy and practising their numbers and name. Well done everybody!

What a great start to our keeping fit theme this week, keep up the good work nursery. See you all tomorrow.

Talk About Numbers

For our number activity today and linking with our new theme keeping fit. We are going to play a Number Target Game, let’s go outside boys and girls and hit that target!

You can use some chalk to draw 3 circles onto the pavement with 1,2,3 inside. Or you can use some paper instead of chalk and put it onto the ground with 1,2,3 on.

Now you have your 1,2,3 circles with chalk or your pieces of paper with 1,2,3 on, it’s time to throw the ball onto the target!

We would like you to start with number 1, so you can count upwards 1, 2 and 3. Then we would like you to count backwards so start on number 3 and count 3, 2 and 1. If you miss the target then try again, practise makes perfect!

Miss Woodward would like to link in the children’s P.E skills within this activity and would like you to encourage the children to throw under arm not over arm, it helps with control with the hand and eye coordination.

Under arm throw – Make sure you stand with the opposite leg out to what hand you throw with, making a smiley face with your arm!

Send in your pictures or videos boys and girls – Contactnursery@holbrook.coventry.sch.uk

Let’s write

Today is write dance. Lets get warmed up with I can move my body.

We are also going to practice with a ribbon, sock, tea towel making a snake. Starting with the anticlockwise move we practiced last week.

Now we have our arms and hands warmed up, its time to have a go at the writing activity.
This week we want you to create your own exercise dairy. We would like you to add to your dairy each day. Then on Friday we can look at all the different types of exercise your have done.

Your exercise can involve… Miss Woodward’s P.E activities , going on your bike or scooter, a daily walk, dancing, jumping on your trampoline or running.

Here is how we would like you to create your daily dairy.

Have a go Boys and Girls, we can not wait to see them on Friday all completed.
Remember to hold your pencil in a pinch near the bottom.

Send in you work to ContactNursery@holbrook.coventry.sch.uk

Ready to read

Today we are re-reading one of our favourite stories Goldilocks. You can sing the song then retell our story map. Then I want you to predict (What you think will happen next?)

Goldilocks and the three bears

Once upon a time there was a girl called Goldilocks who had curly yellow hair.

One morning Goldilocks was walking in the woods and found a house.

First Goldilocks knocked on the door but there was no one there.

So Goldilocks went into the kitchen where she saw 3 bowls of porridge.

The big bowl of porridge was too hot. The middle size bowl of porridge was too cold, but the small bowl of porridge was just right

Next Goldilocks went to the lounge where she saw three chairs.

The big chair was too hard.  The middle size chair was too soft but the small chair was just right.

Suddenly the chair broke.

After Goldilocks went upstairs to the bedroom where she saw 3 beds.

The big bed was too hard, the middle size bed was too soft but the small bed was just right.

Then she went to sleep in the small bed.

Later the three bears came home and went into the kitchen where they saw the three bowls.

Daddy bear said who’s been eating my porridge, Mummy bear said who’s been eating my porridge, and Baby bear said who’s been eating my porridge and it’s all gone

Next they went to the lounge where they saw the three chairs

Daddy bear said who’s been sitting in my chair, Mummy bear said who’s been sitting in my chair, and Baby bear said who’s been sitting in my chair and it’s broken.

After they went to the bedroom where they saw the three beds

Daddy bear said who’s been sleeping in my bed, Mummy bear said who’s been sleeping in my bed, and Baby bear said who’s been sleeping in my bed and she’s still here.

Suddenly they went ROAR! ROAR! ROAR! and Goldilocks ran all the way home.

What do you think Goldilocks is going to do next?

Let’s talk

This week we are learning about keeping fit and healthy. While we have been home we have been enjoying bike rides and playing on the scooter. Enjoy this song about riding a bike.

Remember to keep safe and wear a helmet. Here is my bike and our scooter.

Can you talk about your bike?

What colour is your bike or scooter?

Does it have a bell?

How many wheels does it have?

How do you make it turn?

How do you make it go really fast?

How do you make it stop?

Where do you like riding it?

Who do you ride it with?

Your Nursery Teachers would love to see your pictures of your bike and scooters and also send in your talk about them. Contactnursery@holbrook.coventry.sch.uk

It’s called the mixed up chameleon

Do you have any books by the same author at home? Here are two I found.

If you can’t find any but the same author don’t worry enjoy reading your favourite story.

Can you find the print and follow it from left to right and top to bottom with your finger.

Send photo’s of you reading your favourite books to ContactNursery@holbrook.coventry.sch.uk

All About Weight

Todays activity is all about how heavy or light. Here is a short clip to help explain what heavy and light mean.

Our activity is about how heavy or light vegetables are. You will need some vegetables from the fridge, cupboard or freezer and two bags to weigh them in.

I took some vegetables out of my fridge and then chose two different kinds, to weigh in the bags.

First I started with the carrots and the red pepper.

I put the carrots in one bag, the red pepper in the other bag and held each bag in my hands to see what the weight felt like. I asked myself, Which vegetable feels the lightest? Which vegetable feels the heaviest?

Next I chose the red onions and the mushrooms.

I put the red onions in one bag, the mushrooms in the other bag and held each bag in my hands to see what the weight felt like. I asked myself, Which vegetable feels the lightest? Which vegetable feels the heaviest?

Have fun weighing and talking about the vegetables with your family.
