All About Position

This week in Maths we are learning about position words. Here is a song for today with some position words for you to learn.

Next watch this video and see if you can find where the objects are.

Now it is your turn to take part in an activity. Find a soft toy or teddy and ask a grown up to help you think of places to put it. You will need to ask your grown up:

Where shall I put the teddy?

Your grown up will give you an instruction like this….

Put the teddy….. on, in, under, over, next to, inside, through, past, behind, or around a place and you will need to follow the instruction.

Like this:

Good luck with listening to the positional language and following the instructions.

All About Numbers

Today’s activity is a number ordering one. The idea is to build a fence for the farmer’s field by putting the fence posts in order of number from 1 to 10.

You will need:

10 lollipop sticks (or 10 strips of paper cut into lollipop stick shapes ) for fence posts

a fence posts sheet

crayons

pencil

pen

First number the lollipop sticks (or strips of paper cut into lollipop stick shapes) from 1 to 10, then lie them on a table.

Like this:

Then you will need a fence posts sheet for your lollipop sticks to be matched onto. This is to help you learn to recognise numbers 1 to 10 in order.

Like this:

Then you can read the numbers on the fence posts and match the correct lollipop sticks to them.

Like this:

Once you have put all of the lollipop sticks in the correct places from 1 to 10 then the fence is complete. You can then draw some animals in the field and the fence will keep them safe.

Think about these number questions as you build your fence.

Which number comes before three?

Which number comes after six?

Which number comes between 7 and 9?

Have fun building your fence and send us pictures of your learning to:

Talk A Lot

To continue our theme of the farm, we would like you to be farmers and create your own farm.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/games/down-on-the-farm-a-year-on-your-farm

Now talk about:

  • What animals would you like on your farm?
  • What do the animals need?
  • Where might the animals stay?
  • How does the farmer look after the animals?

When you have created your farm you may want to draw a picture of it and the animals you have chosen.

Send in your fabulous work- contactnursery@holbrook.coventry.sch.uk

Brilliant Thursday

Today there was some brilliant activities on the blog for the children to challenge themselves, we have been so pleased with your work today! You all are superstars.

I Spy With My Little Eye

Today the children have been listening to the initial sounds of the animals. This game was a little tricky but hearing from the parents it sounds like the children have all tried so hard. What clever boys and girls you are!

We Made A Cow

For our talk a lot activity today the children have been busy making a cow out of paper. You have all shown a lot of concentration and done some brilliant talking about your cow, we love them well done!

Funky Fingers

Today the children enjoyed seeing Mrs Simonds on the video and watching her practise her pinchy pinchy fingers. The children were very creative as they have chosen different types of foods to practise their pinchy pinchy fingers so they have the best pencil grip. Good Job Nursery!

How Many Animals In The Field

In number today the children have been working on their more than skills, they have been looking at the numerals and working out what is more than that numeral. They used cut out animals, objects they like to play with and other objects to count. You are all fantastic!
