All About Position

Today in Maths we are continuing to learn about position words. Here is a new song with some of the position words for you to sing and remember.

Next it is your turn to take part in an activity. You will need to make a spider first, so here is your chance to get busy and creative.

Watch this short video to find out how you can make a spider.

Now it is time to play Hide and Seek with your spider. Ask your grown up to hide your spider. You will need to try and find your spider by asking questions about where it might be hiding.

Like this:

Is the spider in the cupboard?

Is the spider under the blanket?

Is the spider on top of the cushion?

Is the spider by the television?

See if you can find your spider by asking as many questions as you can using the different position words which you have been learning this week.

Good luck!

Let’s read

Today we are reading Rosies walk again and thinking about the places she went on her walk. You will need to remember those important positional words through, under or past so listen carefully.

Can you answer these question is a sentence .

What did Rosie go through? Rosie went through the …..

What did Rosie go across? Rosie went across …

What did Rosie go over? Rosie went over…

What did Rosie go under? Rosie went under …

What did Rosie go round? Rosie went round…

What did Rosie go past? Rosie went past…

Can you join two of the sentences together?

Rosie went under the …. and round the ….

Let’s talk

Today we are making maps of Rosie’s walk. The children will need help with the map but the important thing is to retell the story. If you are really clever you could even change the story. This video will show you what to do.

Send you’re photos to ContactNursery@holbrook.coventry.sch.uk

Terrific Tuesday

Another busy day day based on our theme Rosie’s Walk and farm.

Can you hear the rhyming words?

For our reading activity today the children had to listen to a new rhyme “Chick, chick, chick, chick chicken.” After listening to the rhyme they had to challenge themselves to see if they could find anymore words that rhyme with chick. The words the children found were fantastic well done!

Guess The Animal

In our talking activity the children had to talk about the animals they saw on their virtual farm visit. After learning about the animals they were set an activity called guess the animal, this meant they had some questions to prompt them what the animal could be. The children worked so hard on this activity and really thought about the animals carefully. Good Job!

Matching the Numbers on Rosie

For number today the children are still learning about positional language as they all enjoyed the in, on, under song to begin with. Then they had to match the numerals onto Rosie’s tail by using their number recognition skills. The pictures sent of this activity are brilliant , well done Nursery you are really starting to read more numbers.

Run Fun

Miss Woodward set the children a challenge today to get their heart rates pumping. They had to take part in a relay race to some music. They then had a nice relaxing cool down video to watch to relax their muscles after being so fantastic at their running.

Drawings of Rosie

The children are still sending their pictures of Rosie to us, they are so lovely.

Busy Bees

A fabulous mixture of activities, busy writing numbers, drawing and exploring flowers. Thank you for sharing your learning with us. Such lovely photos.

Another excellent day of learning Nursery, keep it up we are proud of you!

See you tomorrow for more fun activities.

Let’s go for a run

In this week story Rosie the hen goes for a walk, Miss Woodward thought it would be a good idea to go for a run.

I would like you to put 2 objects either side of where you choose to run. This could be in the garden or in an indoor space.

Play the music below and until the music stops I would like you to run either side starting off slow and then pick up the pace… LET’S GO!

Cool Down – Stretches

If you are outside go inside and play this video on the tv, if you are already inside then sit and relax.

Whilst watching the video I would like you to copy the positions and think about your family.

Well Done nursery what great execising!

All About Position

To continue our learning about position words, here is another song for today with position words for you to remember. Can you say where the objects are?

Here is an activity for you to get busy with. Our story for this week is Rosie’s Walk. Mrs Nissa thought you might like to try this Rosie the hen number matching activity.

You will need:

A black pen

A pair of scissors

A glue stick

Crayons or felt tipped pens

Now draw a picture of Rosie the hen. On her tail write the numbers 1 to 10 randomly (more numbers if you really want a challenge). Then make feathers with matching numbers on.

Next, place the feathers on each of the numbers on Rosie’s tail by matching them together. Each time you pick up a feather, make sure you read the number to a grown up. When they are matched correctly, stick them on top of the number with the glue stick.

Finally you can colour Rosie the hen in.

Good luck matching and reading the numbers.

Please send us in photos of your learning. Yout teachers love to see what you have been doing each day.

Let’s talk

Enjoy this video about visiting a farm. Look carefully at the animals,

How many legs do they have?

Do they have feathers, hair or wool?

Do they have a beak or a mouth?

What colours are they?

What is you’re favourite farm animal?

Listen to the questions on this video and guess what animal it is going to be?

Draw a picture of your favourite animal and send it to ContactNursery@holbrook.coventry.sch.uk.
